UK Community Radio Network Launches First-Ever Community Radio Week

The UK Community Radio Network is proud to announce the launch of Community Radio Week, a nationwide celebration of community broadcasting, running from Monday 2nd to Sunday 8th February 2026. 

Inspired by and building on the success of Cornwall Community Media Network’s Community Radio Day in 2025, which saw six local stations broadcast a county-wide simulcast, this week-long initiative will spotlight the diversity and impact of community radio across the UK. 

With a packed schedule of themed days, workshops and activities, Community Radio Week aims to bring together stations, volunteers and listeners to celebrate the voices that make local radio so vital. Whether you're a station, volunteer, listener, or supporter, there’s a way to take part. Whether it’s joining in with the activities or sharing support for your local station online, we can all help to amplify the impact of community radio.

Here are some of our ideas of how to get involved and celebrate:

Monday: Social Media Shout-Out 
Share a local news story, one of your achievements, or spotlight a stand-out volunteer to celebrate your station on social media. It could be an Instagram reel, a post in a Facebook group, or making new connections on LinkedIn.

Tuesday: The Big Managers Meet-Up         
Shall we make it the biggest virtual meeting of station managers across the UK ever? Join our monthly UKCRN Managers meeting to ask questions, share tips, and benefit from collective advice and support.  Or why not show your appreciation for your station manager with a little treat? A cuppa and a posh biscuit, sorted. 

Wednesday: Upskilling the Community  
Members of the Cornwall Community Media Network (CCMN) invite you to a live stream to learn about their annual Digital Skills Bootcamp. It will include ideas for training workshops and programmes, upskilled community volunteer success stories, and a chance to ask questions. Or why not try that online course you’ve been putting off, or encourage your volunteers to learn one new skill this week?

Thursday: Let’s Get Techy   
Your opportunity to ask all those technical questions, big and small, with an experienced Broadcast Engineer on our live stream. Or a good excuse to carve out much-needed time for maintenance on your kit or to run those never-ending software updates.

Friday: Funding Friday 

UKCRN will be running an online Funding Fair, with a chance for you to hear from local, national and regional funders about accessing grant funding and community-powered funding opportunities to help super-charge your stations work. This could also be a chance to engage with your existing funders, sharing updates on your work and activities.

Saturday: Community Radio Day 
This is your opportunity to show what your station does best: community radio! You could open the doors for your listeners and supporters to drop by, organise an outside broadcast in your local area, or maybe even pull off a station ‘station swap’ with your neighbouring station. It’s your chance to show off, collaborate, and celebrate! 

Sunday: Sunday Social        
To round-off the week, why not use your day of rest to socialise with your fellow presenters, station managers and volunteers? You could use it to schedule the AGM, meet up with other community stations in your area, or as a great excuse for some coffee and good conversation. Treat yourself, you’ve earned it!
